The Traxxas Slash 2WD car is one of the most common products produced by the company in the market today. For beginners, viewing the truck in action for the first time may prove difficult to differentiate it from the full-sized off-road trucks. This great, pin-point Traxxas RC 2WD trucks represents an off-road truck that you may see in most short course off-road racing.

Many of the RC cars from manufacturing companies like HPI, Hot Bodies, Team Losi, Team XRay, OFNA.Associated, Tamiya and Kyosho have been around for over two decades. These trucks exist in various types and forms, including a variety of the potent track performers and the big, winged, fast, super cool, monster machines.

The Traxxas 2WD RC car brings you all the short course race action right to your home backyard, giving you the best racing experience. However, what makes the Traxxas 2WD standout from most of its competitors is its ability to handle various types of off-tracks as its production was inspired by the TORC Pro 2WD class. This car is built to not only fly over jumps but also be able to rip full-throttle during the turns which is the best way to challenge your driving skills.

Features of the Traxxas Slash 2WD

HORSE POWER

The Traxxas 2WD RC car comes with 900+ horsepower for full throttle racing engines. This offers you a high-flying and powerful fender-to-fender action. It has a very efficient and absolutely no-maintenance motor that also offers a long-lasting performance, the modified Titan 12T 550.

This car has the ability to clock 30+ mph top speed and comes with an integrated cooling fan that pulls cool air into the truck, keeping the motor’s temperatures low. Additionally, the fact that the temperatures are kept at a minimum extends the lifespan of the motor, providing an overall longer runtime.

A PRECISION-BOUND 2.4GHZ CONTROL RADIO SYSTEM

The TQ 2.4GHz radio system in the Traxxas 2WD RC car is built with user needs on mind. There are no frequencies or channels for you to manage so you should only be in for the fun. This radio system comes in handy by helping you store settings for at most thirty Traxxas Link-enabled models. This design is very comfortable for anyone going for all-day driving. It has internal antennas making it less vulnerable to damage.

FUEL CONSUMPTION

It has a 2WD chassis that is able to withstand pretty harsh conditions, including ice, dirt, mud or even snow. The same torque applies to the 1500cc fuel compartment of the “Nitro” model of the gas powered off-road RC Slash truck.

BATTERY

To get the Traxxas 2WD RC car in action, you need 4AA batteries. The Traxxas Slash is manufactured for great Velineon brushless horsepower. However, it is sold separately. What you do is simply fasten it in and the speed will be boosted up to 40+mph by the 7-cell NiMH battery. You also have the ability to go an extra mile of doubling this speed if you add an 11.1-volt LiPo battery to it. There is also a battery hold down accessory (the 5827X) available through which you are able to use larger battery packs that will in turn help you extend run time and the speed of your truck.

Pros

-This truck comes as a kit and is Ready To Run (RTR). Most hobby shops offer a variety of aftermarket or original replacements if you happen to break any parts. The advantage being that these replacements are very cheap as compared to replacing the whole car.

-The truck has a great ground clearance and jumping ability and improved handling of the longer wheel base of the Slash. The main advantage here is since the truck is wide; rolling over in a fast and sharp turn is very hard. This stability has received lots of complements from previous customers.

-In most cases, the body shells are interchangeable and range from Ferrari, Ford Mustang, Aston Martin, Mazda 6, Lamborghini, Dodge Stratus and Honda Accord. Each shell is painted as the original car or according to the buyer’s choice.

Cons

-The main problem with buying this truck is that breaking a part does not guarantee that you will easily find it in a store like you would for a real car. This is still a toy meaning you may have to throw it away if you don’t find a part.

-Some of these slashes put more weight on the axles in that the tires wear faster. Beginners also find it hard to handle this truck.

Our Verdict

Generally, the Traxxas Slash 2WD is an incredible truck to use in racing competitions. We have received very positive feedback from customers that have purchased this particular model RCC.

It is also important to note that for the price, you certainly get great value for money. Certainly not cheap, but if you enjoy your remote control cars, then the Traxxas Slash 2WD is a great option and should be strongly considered.
